Overview
The CJV Traveling Teams
will provide an opportunity for girls ages 12
- 18 from all around the 704 & 803 area codes
to try out for competitive traveling
volleyball teams.
Traveling Teams are for the higher level
volleyball player and will practice 2-3 times
each week and compete in 7-10 tournaments on
weekends outside the Charlotte area and
possibly outside of North Carolina.

November – April (Some teams may play
until June)

October 21, 2008
*Girls not
registering for the Travel Team by the posted
deadlines may be put on a waiting list or not
be able to participate in the first day of
tryouts. It is very important to register by
the deadline to allow the CJV Club to review
the numbers and ages of girls to prepare for
tryouts.

Ages based on
USAV Playing Age (see tryouts below for age
definitions).
Players
should try out for their age group.
Coaches may move players and combine age groups
as needed.
There will be
10 players per team.
There may be more or less teams than listed
above based on the number and level of girls at
tryouts. The CJV program philosophy is to
only form a Travel Team at a specific age group
if we feel that team will be one of the most
dominant in the region. Otherwise, we feel
the team and girls will benefit more by
participating in the CJV Non-Travel Program.
Coaches
Each
of the Traveling Teams will have 1 Head Coach
and 1 Assistant Coach.
Coaching
assignments may change based on the number and
level of girls at tryouts and the total number
of teams formed.

Tryouts
Location: Sports Connection on Granite Street
14's and 15's – November 3 and 5,
2008 from 7:00 - 9:00 PM
16’s – November 4 and 6, 2008 from 6:00
- 8:00 PM
17 & 18’s – November 4 and 6, 2008 from 8:00
- 10:00 PM
All
players should try out at the correct time
based on their USAV Playing Age. Coaches will
move players as they feel necessary.
USAV playing age definitions:
- 18 and under division:
Players who were born on or after September
1st, 1990 or Players who were
born on or after September 1, 1989 and
a high school student during some part of
the current academic year.
17 and under division:
Players who were born on or after Sept.
1st, 1991
16 and under division:
Players who were born on or after Sept.
1st, 1992
15 and under division:
Players who were born on or after Sept.
1st, 1993
14 and under division:
Players who were born on or after Sept.
1st, 1994
Cuts may be
made after each day of tryouts.
Players
and Parents maybe contacted before teams are
posted.
Teams
will be posted by November 10, 2008.
When selected
for a Traveling Team you will have 24 hours to
pay 1/3 of your team fee or we will remove you
from the team. To withdraw from being selected for a
Traveling Team submit your request IN WRITING
prior to the end of the second tryout.
Practices
Teams
will practice 2-3 times per week.
All
practices will be at the Sports Connection
facility on Granite Street.
Practices could be any day of the week or
weekend from 4:00 - 10:00 PM weekdays and 8:00 AM
- 10:00 PM weekends.
More information on practices will be
available at tryouts.
Tournaments
All
teams will play in a minimum of 4 USAV
tournaments in the Carolina Region, and a
minimum of 7 tournaments total throughout the
season.
Tournaments
will be a decided on by the coach. The
schedules and estimated team fee will be
available on this website before tryouts.
Each team will have the option to try and
qualify for the USAV National Championships.
The cost to enter the USAV National
Championships and the coaches expenses are
already budgeted for in the CJV Traveling Fee.
If teams and coaches choose not to attend
Nationals, or if the team fails to qualify for
Nationals, a refund will be issued at the end of
the season to each girl.

Playing Time
Playing time in tournaments is totally at the
coaches discretion.
Cost
The Traveling Team fee is determined by how
many and which tournaments your coach chooses
for the team to attend. Total fees range from
$1,800 - $2,400 per girl, with 1/3 of the team
fee due within 24 hours of when teams are
posted.

Fee Includes: Tryouts, Practices,
Uniforms, Coaches Salaries and Expenses for Practices
and All Tournaments, Equipment (Volleyballs,
Courts, Nets, Practice Equipment, etc.),
Overhead (Administration, Websites, Insurance,
Credit Cards, Accounting, Staff), etc.
Additional Costs Include: USAV
Membership ($35/player), Individual Player's
Travel Expenses, Possible Extra Tournaments
and Other Optional Team Expenses. Some
teams may choose to do fundraisers during the
season.
